October typically marks the start of the 5K season here in South Florida. I was honored to be part of the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders Cheer for a Cause team during the Hand For Haiti 5K at Zoo Miami. It had been several years since I participated in a 5K and I was glad my first race back would benefit such a great cause. It’s been almost three years since the devastating earthquake in Haiti, yet the country remains in turmoil. It was important to me to support the continued efforts to help those in Haiti recover and rebuild.
We train hard every week as Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders. To make sure I was in top condition for the 5K I had to put in some extra work. I decided to ask someone who walks/runs at least 5 miles every day, my mom! It was an added treat to have my mom join my teammates and I during the race. As I made my way through the course at Zoo Miami, I was thankful for the beautiful back drop and thought about those in Haiti who don’t get to experience days like these. I hope to see you all out there supporting your favorite charities!
