My alarm went off at 6:00 am on Saturday October 26, 2013. I instantly became excited for the day, because I was going to a walk for Alzheimer’s at Hallandale beach. This cause hits close to home because many of my family’s friends struggle with Alzheimer’s.
The weather was absolutely perfect. The sun was shining, and there was a cool breeze in the air. I arrived at 7:30am and was moved to see the amount of people that were there, and that have been affected by this horrible disease. The proceeds of this walk were going towards the Alzheimer’s foundation, to help find a cure to this disease that affects millions.
The most amazing part of this walk was being able to talk to some of these families and hear who they were walking for. It was beautiful to see that even though they are affected by this disease, they had the most uplifting attitudes.
The walk was located right along the beach. The scenery was magnificent, the waves crashing against the sand, the breeze blowing through the palm tress, and the sun shining brightly. The other girls and myself did not want to leave. It made the walk for us so much more enjoyable knowing that we got to experience such a beautiful day, for an important cause. I can’t wait to participate for this walk again next year!
